Drums, Percussion
Lucas Heininger is a versatile drummer and percussionist with a broad musical background spanning jazz drum set, marching percussion, and classical concert percussion. His diverse training and performance experience allow him to move fluidly between styles, from orchestral and theatrical settings to contemporary band and studio work.
Lucas earned his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance from California State University, Northridge, where he studied under the tutelage of Aaron Smith and John Magnussen. During his time at CSUN, he developed a strong technical and musical foundation through focused study in percussion performance, while also expanding his musicianship through coursework in music theory, keyboard percussion, auxiliary percussion, and world percussion. This well-rounded education fostered both his interpretive sensitivity and his adaptability as a performer.
As a performer, Lucas has appeared in a wide variety of musical environments. His theatrical credits include productions of Fiddler on the Roof, The Little Mermaid, Les Misérables, and Once on This Island. He has also completed three U.S. tours, performing in venues across Seattle, Pennsylvania, and Hawaii. In addition to theater and touring work, Lucas has performed with wind ensembles, orchestras, and in studio recording sessions, further demonstrating his stylistic range and professional versatility.
Beyond classical and theatrical performance, Lucas is an active drum set player and has performed with several bands in contemporary settings. Notably, he leads his own combo, where he serves as both drummer and lead vocalist, blending rhythmic leadership with melodic and expressive roles.
In addition to his performance career, Lucas is a dedicated educator. He maintains an active private teaching studio, offering instruction in drums, percussion, piano, guitar, and bass. His teaching approach emphasizes strong technical foundations, musical literacy, and stylistic awareness, helping students develop both confidence and versatility across genres.
